Doctor Gambino, current president of The Italian Society for Hair Restoration Surgery, was born in Licata, Italy on December 4, 1953. He studied medicine at the University of Pavia, Italy graduating in 1981 and did his internship and residency at the university hospital's Department of Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat). In 1990 he began specializing in the surgical treatment of hair loss with The Elliott Thomas Medical Group in New York."
He has dedicated himself
professionally to the treatment of both male and female hair loss
whether caused by genetic predisposition or as a result of disease
or trauma. Customizing his treatment to the individual patient,
he performs follicular unit transplantation, and in rare cases scalp
reduction and extender assisted scalp reduction. He was the first
Italian doctor to treat female pubic alopecia with monograft transplantation.
Currently he is working documenting the results of the first chest
hair to head transplantation done in Italy.
Doctor Gambino is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and serves on various committees. A member of the European Board of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology, he was nominated in 1998 to form it's guidelines on hair transplantation. He heads the hair restoration section of S.I.E.S.- Società Italiana di Medicina e Chirurgia Estetica (Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery) and was one of the founding members and serves on the executive board of S.I.Tri. - Società Italiana di Tricologia (Italian Society of Tricology).
